“Spiderman” Director Marc Webb On Reboot: “[It’s] been really fun.”

From ComicBookMovie, via Popcorn Biz, the “Amazing Spiderman” director talks about rebooting the film franchise with new actors and retelling the origin story of Peter Parker, the original angsty teen:

“Well, we’re telling the story in a different way and I think it’s really important when you’re redefining a character for the audience to experience things that they haven’t experienced from the ground up. I wanted to build a character. There’s just something about the movies that I see, like, I feel like point of view is a really crucial thing in the story and that you need to build up the sort of emotional building blocks so that you can experience all the other emotions in a very specific way rather than just experience it in an intellectual way. I mean, that’s why at the beginning of the movie there’s a story of his parents. I think you want to feel what that sense of abandonment feels like as an audience member so that you can readily and appropriately identify. And we’re creating a different universe with different rules and a different tone and different villains. We’re very careful to honor the iconography of ‘Spider-Man,’ but we wanted to tell it in a new and different way.”

First Look: Colin Farrell In “Total Recall” Reboot.

If you’re like me and you’re wondering why they’re remaking a fair-to-middling Arnold Schwarzenegger movie from the 1990s, this new teaser image may do little to answer your questions. On the other hand, it’s kind of a cool-looking poster. Life, after all, is full of little trade-offs.

Our friends at Brit film site HeyUGuys think the poster bears more than a passing resemblance to the one from “Source Code.” Click through for a side-by-side comparison of the images.

Another day, another round of “Avengers” stuff. But how can you complain when it’s two images of Scarlett Johansson as the deadly “Black Widow?”

Didn’t think so.

And here’s a new poster for director Joss Whedon’s superteam flick. It opens May 4 here in the States.

Ridley Scott On Shooting “Prometheus” In 3D: “It’s kind of bizarre.”

The director sits down with TotalFilm to talk about his “Aliens” prequel and the challenges of filming in 3D.

Here’s a snippet:

“Q: Is it more immersive, giving depth?

A: Yes, yes. And you can do that afterwards, by the way. I’m actually decided right now how deep to make it on certain sequences.
So you can literally, as it were, twiddle a knob, and the depth will increase. It’s kind of bizarre, but there it is. Technologically it’s absolutely staggering.
I was working with MPC in London, looking after almost 1,300 big FX shots, and every night they would pipe through shots to a big screen in my office in Lexington Street; I would sit there watching a sequence that had just been graded or refined in perfect 3D. Really amazing.”
