Watch The UK Trailer For “Dark Shadows.”

Johnny Depp stars as vampire Barnabas Collins in director Tim Burton’s reboot of the 1960s American horror-soap. Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Green and Chloe Moretz also star.

Here’s a synopsis:

In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas has the world at his feet-or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy…until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Brouchard. A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive. Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman, to help with her family troubles.

Spidey Reboot Will Change His Origin.

TotalFilm reports in an interview with director Marc Webb:

“I wanted to give the audience something new, so that started off with getting underneath the parents’ story, which will unfold over probably a few movies,” Webb told MTV. “We don’t totally wrap up that story in this first movie. It’s sort of an ongoing mystery. That was something that was interesting to me.”

Report: Gary Ross Bows Out Of Hunger Games Sequel.

Hunger Games” director Gary Ross won’t be back for “Catching Fire,” the second installment in the sci-fi action series, TheWrap reports. He cited scheduling constraints:

“As a writer and a director, I simply don’t have the time I need to write and prep the movie I would have wanted to make because of the fixed and tight production schedule,” Ross said, calling the decision a difficult one.”

In a statement, Lionsgate execs said they were sorry to see Ross go:

“We were really looking forward to making the movie with him,” the studio said. “He did an incredible job on the first film and we are grateful for his work.”

Judi Dench’s Last Turn as “M” In Skyfall?

The Guardian reports:

“The latest rumour to hit the tabloid carousel originates from the previously little-known Brit website Best For Film, and has been swiftly picked up by gossip-hungry red-tops.

It suggests that Judi Dench’s M, head of MI6, and 007’s tough yet occasionally tender boss, has scolded 007 for the final time. “We’ve just filmed M’s death scene. Judi Dench is leaving the franchise,” a member of the Skyfall production crew reportedly told the site.

When my colleague Henry Barnes got in touch with studio Sony this morning, he was batted off with a polite but firm: “No comment.”
