Joss Whedon Talks “Avengers” Sequel.

The movie hasn’t even opened yet and director Joss Whedon is already talking about his plans for a follow-up to the first installment of the adventures of the Marvel Comics superteam.

In an interview with sci-fi magazine SFX, the director says bigger and louder doesn’t always win the day when it comes to sequels (you taking notes, Michael Bay?).

“By not trying to [go bigger],” he said. “By being smaller. More personal, more painful. By being the next thing that should happen to these characters, and not just a rehash of what seemed to work the first time. By having a theme that is completely fresh and organic to itself”

As to the first film, Whedon says of his heroes: “I want to know what makes them tick,” says Whedon. “What makes them flawed, what makes them fight, and ultimately, what makes them awesome. I go to these movies for those moments when the heroes define themselves, either through action or deliciously overwritten speeches.”

“John Carter” Actress Lynn Collins Talks About Creating Her Character.

There’s an old joke in Hollywood that Ginger Rogers had to do everything Fred Astaire did — just in a dress and heels.

Now we can amend that for actress Lynn Collins, who had to keep up with John Carter co-star Tyler Kitsch, while wearing a costume that tempted the laws of physics. She was one piece of sticky tape away from disaster.

Among those honored include Halle Berry for “Gothika” and Alexandra Daddario in “Bereavement.”

And, of course, pictured above is Megan Fox in “Jennifer’s Body,” where she plays a horror movie victim who ends up getting her revenge — albeit briefly.

New “Dark Shadows” Images Cast Their … Shadow.

From TotalFilm, here’s a new look at the Tim Burton-directed reboot of the 1960s horror-soap about a family of vampires living in New England. As someone who grew up there, I can’t tell you how many times we had that problem.

Johnny Depp stars as vamp Barnabas Collins. And that’s French beauty Eva Green sporting the incongruous blonde hair.

Someone Wants To Give Josh Trank A Superhero Movie.

Chronicle” director Josh Trank, who’s been widely mentioned as the director for a reboot of the “Fantastic Four” franchise at Fox is apparently in talks to helm a Spiderman spinoff featuring the baddie Venom, HeyUGuys reports this morning.

A feature film for the shape-shifting Spider-Villain has been mentioned since Topher Grace portrayed him in “Spiderman Man 3: Jazz Hands” a few years back. There was even a script penned by Jacob Estes and Gary Ross (“The Hunger Games”) was in talks to direct, HeyUGuys reports. But as is the case with most things in Hollywood, it never really got anywhere. Now, it looks like Columbia wants to reboot, with Trank going behind the camera.

For those not in the know, here’s the animated exploits of Venom:
